The ALH301 is a simple, accessible two-bedroom home originally developed for Rural Housing Scotland’s Our Island Home competition. It was designed as an affordable home that would sit naturally within a rural setting.
At its centre is a vaulted open-plan kitchen, dining and living area with a wall of glazing. Bedrooms at either end provide privacy and generous storage, while the straightforward form makes efficient use of the floor area.
The plan avoids corridors, concentrating circulation within the shared central space. This leaves bedrooms at opposite ends of the house while keeping the kitchen, dining and living accommodation together.
